Making car fuel from household waste

Category: Fuel & Energy

Is it possible to convert a car engine, so that it can run on household waste products. If so what would need to be done to the products to turn them into fuel? I'm thinking that organic products such as meat and vegetable waste could be processed somehow.

There are currently projects that allow waste oil to be converted into biodiesel. Biodiesel is able to be used in regular diesel engines without modification.
